Yungaba Action Group (YAG)....

YAG is a group of concerned citizens who oppose the sale by the Queensland Government of the Kangaroo Point heritage building Yungaba to private developers, who plan to convert the facility into up-market residential apartments and units.

The sale because contravenes two Government decisions (1997 & 2000) both of which endorsed the redevelopment of Yungaba as a Multicultural Centre and Immigration Museum.

YAG’s aims are:

1) to request Government to stop the sale process underway;

2) to raise public awareness of this situation; and

3) to rally public support for the redevelopment of Yungaba as a centre for multicultural activity, show casing an imigrant experience.

YUNGABA - Opportunity to showcase Queensland civic values in the human and architectural fabric of its capital city, with iconic Brisbane skyline incorporating the Story Bridge, Brisbane River, Palm trees and Bunya Pines.
